The Carpet under the dining table: the big dilemma! Ideal for adding a touch of color and texture to the room, it is also the perfect accessory to better define the spaces. We start with a step that is often overlooked but important nonetheless: determining the size of our carpet. If it is too small, the chair legs will be trapped in it. If it’s too big, your table will seem lost in the middle of the room and will visually shrink the space. Take accurate measurements of your future carpet: you will be disappointed if the model you choose is not as good at home as it is in a shop!
Allow an additional 60 cm on each side of the table so that your chairs can rest completely on the carpet and slide easily. To visualize the size of the carpet, you can draw marks on the floor with tape. This way you can project and check that there is no furniture blocking the passage. In order to visually enlarge the room, your carpet should not go under furniture and be at least 8 inches away from the walls.
