A freestanding island or kitchen island can no longer be ignored in the contemporary kitchen. It gives an open feeling when cooking and excludes open kitchens from the living room. Depending on the available space and personal taste, you can integrate the hob, the sink and even Kitchen island with seating. Read here how you can design the perfect kitchen island.
Not every kitchen is suitable for placing a kitchen island. Sometimes because of an inconvenient or too small space, you have to opt for a semi-open island like the one below. A free-standing kitchen island in a small space creates a claustrophobic feeling and a lack of exercise. This certainly cannot be the intention, as a kitchen island is just as popular due to the openness and feeling of space. If you are not sure, you can mark the island on the ground and place some boxes where you think it will get tight.
Please also note the recommended minimum dimensions below in this article. If you have enough space in the kitchen, a seating function on your island is certainly worth considering. Regardless of whether it is a full-fledged restaurant or just a small bite, some seats are always practical and bring out the homely atmosphere.
